Essence Releases UK 2021 Gender Pay Gap Figures

Essence has completed its Gender Pay Gap analysis for 2021 in accordance with UK government requirements for organizations with more than 250 employees in the United Kingdom.

Our benchmark analysis - which compares the average compensation of our total male workforce in the UK and the average compensation of our total female workforce in the UK - found the Median Pay Gap was 16.8% on 5 April 2021, a reduction of 4.6% from the 2020 Median Pay Gap, which stood at 21.4% on 5 April 2020. The UK’s National Median Pay Gap was 15.5% in 2020, according to the Office of National Statistics.

Essence’s 2021 Gender Pay Gap, while an improvement in our results from 2020, still reflects both the imbalance of women in Essence’s most senior leadership positions in the UK and the fact that people in senior roles are typically paid more.
