Campaign Asia-Pacific and Essence co-host Diversity Talks 2022 as part of Women to Watch
For the second year running, Essence is proud to co-host Diversity Talks 2022 with Campaign Asia-Pacific as part of Women to Watch. Held on Thursday 30 June from 10am to 12:15pm Singapore time, this virtual event will focus on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives across APAC.
Diversity is good for business, and the advertising and marketing industry recognises that. We have seen regional DEI efforts come on leaps and bounds in recent years, but there is still work to be done. This year’s Diversity Talks will tackle the ways in which companies can continue to be more progressive in their DEI initiatives. We have made progress and now it is time to tackle new challenges.
In the first session, hear from Mali Wuestenhagen, Essence's Associate Vice President, Media Services, Korea, and Women to Watch APAC 2021 winner, with leaders from Google, Globe Telecom and Cathay Pacific, on aligning DEI and social issues with more conservative Asian markets, and what companies need to consider when it comes to tailoring their DEI activity to local markets across ads, products and internal policy.
The second session will see Kota Murakami, Essence’s Managing Director, Japan, alongside speakers from Google, Plum and Women Alliance Group, discussing how companies can ensure that DEI is embedded across their businesses - in ads, media buying, products and services, suppliers and clients, as well as workplace practices - and that they truly walk their talk.
In the third and final session, Sonali Malaviya, Essence’s Managing Director, India, and speakers from Telstra, LogRhythm and Male Allies Hong Kong, will discuss the work that has yet to be done to inch the needle ever forward for women in the workplace, from supporting working mothers, to fostering allyship, to tackling imposter syndrome.
