As SVP, Global Marketing and Communications, Sam Weston is responsible for advancing Essence's reputation and furthering the agency's mission to make brands more valuable to the world by inspiring industry-wide change.
Since joining Essence in 2018, Sam has helped to establish the company as one of the most respected agencies in the industry, recognized as Agency of the Year across multiple categories by Advertising Age, Adweek, Campaign, MediaPost, and AdExchanger for its unique data-science driven value proposition and work in the ethical application of artificial intelligence and machine learning to the practice of marketing and communications.
Prior to Essence, Sam cofounded AI Policy Labs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating the policy implications of artificial intelligence and helped to grow Huge from a small Brooklyn-based design studio into one of the world's leading experience agencies and design brands. He also served as Director of Marketing and Special Projects at Rubenstein Communications, where he helped to modernize the services of one of the most renowned reputation management agencies in public relations industry.
Sam began his career in political consulting and market research, where he worked on campaigns across the U.S., U.K., Australia, and New Zealand for Greenberg Quinlan Rosner and UMR Research.
A proud New Zealander, Sam graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a BA in political science. He currently lives in the suburbs of Minneapolis with his wife, twins, and cattle dog Scarlett.
