Richard Hartell is Global Chief Client Officer at Essence. A marketing executive with more than 20 years of experience in management, strategy and client leadership at media agencies, he is responsible for overseeing Essence's long-standing relationship with Google, recognized as one of the most successful agency-client relationships in the industry.
Richard joined Essence in August 2021, and was previously Chief Strategy Officer and Global President of Strategy & Transformation at Publicis Media. Throughout his career, he has led teams across strategy, planning, content, research, and data; developed global agency products and approaches; won numerous industry awards and helped create profitable growth in each of his roles. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and 3 children and also acts as the corporate chair for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund's One Walk.
