Essence recently held a two-day virtual APAC immersion programme to introduce people from across the region to the prospect of working at Essence, and more broadly, in the advertising, media and marketing industry.

On 14 and 15 October 2020, Essence had the opportunity to meet with over 150 students, graduates, early career professionals and career switchers from across the APAC region and globally via our virtual programme hosted on Google Meet. 16 speakers from Essence across teams and local markets joined over the two days, helping to bring to life an immersive curriculum of presentations, quizzes, polls and Q&A sessions.

The participants received practical introductions to the advertising ecosystem, the media campaign lifecycle, as well as Essence's approach to client services, strategy, analytics, media planning, media activation, advertising operations and business operations. In addition, the attendees learnt about life at Essence, our history and culture, our employee resource groups, and our commitment towards a diverse and inclusive workplace.

We received very positive feedback in our post-event survey with over 90% rating the programme as 'excellent', and strongly agreeing that it helped them better understand the work Essence does and how it fits into the wider advertising industry. The respondents especially liked the quality of our sessions, our speakers, our culture, and our diversity and inclusion efforts. Over 85% also indicated that they are highly likely to recommend Essence as a potential employer to their peers.

A recent mass media graduate from India said, "Really enjoyed how interactive the sessions were. Would love to see more of such activities." An Indonesia-based participant with industry experience similarly said that it was an "amazing experience to be able to join this session through Google Meet" and "keep making this kind of event please". "Very engaging speakers," added a Singapore-based communications practitioner previously from the non-profit space.

Monica Bhatia (SVP, Client Partner, APAC and Managing Director, Singapore at Essence) who led and helped organise the programme, said, "This was such a fulfilling programme to lead for Essence. It was encouraging to see the response and interest we got from across the region, and I am happy that we were able to give a sneak peek of Essence to aspiring individuals and help them in their career choices. Having received really good feedback from the participants, we are looking forward to evolving this programme for the future years."
