Essence pledges support for 'Time to Vote'
Essence is proud to join more than 700 companies in supporting the business-led, non-partisan initiative “Time to Vote.”
Founded in 2018 by Levi Strauss & Co, Patagonia, and Paypal, Time to Vote aims to increase voter participation in U.S. elections. As one of the most cited reasons people give for not voting in elections is lack of time due to work commitments, Time to Vote calls on companies to make it easier for employees to vote by proactively removing work-related obstacles on election days and increasing awareness about how to participate in upcoming elections.
Essence will join GroupM in closing its offices in the U.S. on November 3rd for the 2020 general election in order to allow employees the time necessary to vote safely and conveniently.
“The right to participate in democracy as a voter is fundamental to citizenship and it’s critical that companies do everything they can to support it,” said Jason Harrison, Essence’s CEO in North America.
Time to Vote seeks to have more than 1,000 companies pledge to give employees time to vote on November 3rd. Interested businesses can sign up at maketimetovote.org/apply.
