Campaign honors Essence in Media Agency of the Year awards
Campaign US has named Essence as an Agency of the Year for the second year running. Essence received the Bronze trophy in the Media Agency of the Year category at the publication's 2020 Agency of the Year awards, which were announced in a virtual ceremony on February 18, 2021. Fellow GroupM agency Mindshare was awarded Gold in the same category. Essence was also a finalist in the Digital Innovation Agency of the Year category and was named the sole winner of the Media Agency of the Year category in the 2019 Agency of the Year awards.
Campaign's Agency of the Year Awards first launched in the US in 2019 to recognize creative and strategic excellence in the agency sector. The program recognizes the best advertising agency, advertising network, digital innovation agency, independent agency, Media agency, PR agency, media network, and digital network each year. The 2020 awards were judged by a panel of brand marketing executives, including jury chair Minjae Ormes.
In announcing the awardees, Campaign US Editor Alison Weissbrot said “Each of these agencies demonstrates a commitment to their clients and their craft that sets the bar for the industry. Congratulations to all of our winners, who deserve to be celebrated for their hard work in a very difficult year.”
The award is Essence's second agency of the year award in 2021, recognizing exceptional performance during 2020. The agency has received similar recognition from Digiday, Ad Age, Adweek, Mediapost, AdExchanger, I-COM, and Campaign UK since 2019.
